Today is over, today is done, tomorrow is another one....
We had a good morning this morning snuggling and keeping warm. I was flaring pretty badly, so most of my morning I stayed in bed, took lots of anti-inflammatory drugs, and tried to move as best as I could. The boys looked so good in their Sunday best today! They wore part of their Christmas outfits and OH how handsome they were! Joel is so funny, he loves staying dressed up all Sunday. If he could, it would be nothing but dress shirts and bow ties for him all day "I don't want to change! I look so cute in this outfit!" Gets me every time!
We had a nice dinner with my parents this evening and then headed back to their place for a visit afterwards. The boys had a fun time running into Grandma over and over and their little laughs were so cute!
Earlier today, at church, we sang Christmas hymns for the first time this year. It was so nice to sing such wonderful songs! Even more nice is the fact that I got to pick WHICH Christmas hymns we sing this year, so of course I am going to choose my favorites! Since I am not singing in ANY choirs this year...no clue when my surgery is...hopefully I find out tomorrow, I love singing out while I lead the congregation in the hymns. Angels We Have Heard On High...one of my all time favorites. For Christmas day I chose "I heard the bells on Christmas Day" The story BEHIND the writing of that song is remarkable. It brought a tear to my eye when I read about the composer and all of HIS trials that he endured before writing such a lovely piece. I hope I make it to that Christmas Day church so I can sing the following words and have peace in my heart for the coming new year. Have a good night all
"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till, ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead; nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!"
