Happy moments all over the place today! First off, I am really happy it is Saturday. It is good to end a week and begin a new one. Heck it is GREAT to end a day and begin fresh each morning, but a new week means a whole 7 day stretch of new things to look forward to, and that is pretty happy.
On this Saturday, I did a lot of things. First, I met my mom at her home and we headed out to lunch. We went to Red Robin. I haven't eaten there in forever! It was a really nice time and a good break from all of the Christmas and surgery craziness. Next we went to Anaheim to the mortuary where my grandmother's body was. We dressed her today in our religious burial clothing. It was a peaceful, beautiful service we were able to perform for my beloved grandmother. When it was all done and the morticians had laid her in the casket, I patted her on the head gently and said "goodbye my little grandma." That is not how I will remember my sweet grandma though. I will remember her alive and full of grandma fun whether it was taking me out for pizza, or playing with Joel when he was a baby. So many happy times are in my head to choose from whenever I want to!
Tonight we got the kids ready and went to a Christmas party that was hosted by a family in our congregation. We had such a great time chatting with everyone, eating such wonderful food, and the boys were even given presents that were WRAPPED by the hostess! The boys had such a great time playing with other children in our congregation. I must say that the children in our ward are TRULY well behaved and sweet kids! Even the teenagers were playing with the younger kids and everyone was having a great time! Joel received a toy gun that lights up and makes automatic rifle sounds. He was THRILLED to get home and put the batteries in! He ran around the courtyard shooting bad guys and happily came up to us and said, "I'm gonna be such a HERO!" That was a great happy moment of my day...my little 5 year old was FILLED with happiness and I just stood there watching him glow...it was great.
Well I am off to bed now and hopefully going to sleep well and dream happy dreams. I hope everyone else has the same opportunity!
